NFL Sunday Recap Week 5

Saints 26 Bears 18

The Saints remain undefeated after defeating the Bears.  Drew Brees connected with his targets for two touchdowns.  Garret Hartley was the hero for the Saints.  He made four field goals including a 47 yards and 48 yards.

Bengals 13 Patriots 6

The Bengals’ defense snapped Tom Brady’s streak of 52 games with a passing touchdown and handed the Patriots its first loss of the season.  The Patriots were held to 248 total yards and a disappointing 166 yards passing.

Packers 22 Lions 9

Mason Crosby had a phenomenal day kicking as he sent the ball through the uprights five teams to help the Packers defeat the Lions.  The Packers made it into the end zone only once but racked up 449 yards of total offense lead by Aaron Rodgers’ 274 yards passing and Eddie Lacy’s 99 yards rushing.

Chiefs 26 Titans 17

The Chiefs were able to rally against the Titans to keep a clean slate on its record winning its fifth game in a row.  The Chiefs took the lead late in the fourth after a one yard run by Jamaal Charles and added two field goals to put the game out of reach.

Colts 34 Seahawks 28

Two teams loaded with young talent battled today in Indianapolis.  The Colts were able to squeeze out the victory in a tough game against the visiting Seahawks.  Andrew Luck led the Colts with two touchdown passes.  The Seahawks had an opportunity to win the game but was Russell Wilson threw a pick on the Seahawks final possession.

Rams 34 Jaguars 20

Still in search of its first win, the Jags fell short of beating the Rams in St. Louis.  Justin Blackmon had a major impact in his debut for the season.  His first catch went for a 67-yard touchdown.  The Rams stingy defense forced three turnovers in its winning effort.  Sam Bradford led the Rams with three passing touchdowns.

Ravens 26 Dolphins 23

In a thrilling contest, the Ravens were able to hold off the Dolphins with a field goal in the last minutes of the game.  Ray Rice, who was suffering from a hip injury, ran for two touchdowns.  Justin Tucker, in what has been a big day for the kickers, connected on four field goal attempts including the game decider.

Eagles 36 Giants 21

The Eagles cruised to a victory over the win-less Giants.  Nick Foles took over for injured starting quarterback Michael Vick and led the Eagles to victory with two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter.  The Giants were plagued by four turnovers.

Cardinals 22 Panthers 6

Both quarterbacks accounted for six total turnovers but it was a big second half effort by the Cardinals to defeat the Panthers.  The Cardinals defense was relentless, sacking Cam Newton seven times and intercepting him three times.

Broncos 51 Cowboys 48

Peyton Manning and the Broncos were able to outlast the Cowboys in a shootout for the ages.   Each quarterback had career days combining for nine touchdowns.  Tony Romo threw a costly interception on the Cowboys final possession which allowed the Broncos to have a chance to make the winning field goal.  Manning threw his first interception of the season in the game.

49ers 34 Texans 3

The 49ers dominated the Texans in the Sunday night game.  The statistics are even except for the turnover column  in which the Texans lost the ball four times.  The 49ers were led by a prolific running game of 177 yards.

Raiders 27 Chargers 17

The Chargers had a sloppy day committing five turnovers to allow the Raiders to pick up the win in the divisional game.  Terrelle Pryor had an efficient day throwing for 18/23 and two touchdowns.
